Pastor E.A Adeboye, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has reacted to the suspension of Twitter in Nigeria by President Buhari.

In a tweet on Monday afternoon, Pastor Adeboye said the church will continue to use Twitter despite Mr Buhari’s ban stressing that the church is domiciled in 170 nations.

“The Redeemed Christian Church of God is domiciled in more than 170 Nations & Territories. The tweets here are in accordance to Article 19 of the UN universal declaration of Human Rights,” Daddy G.O as he’s fondly called said.

Mr Adeboye’s congregation is one of the largest in Nigeria, and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has attended the church and served as a preacher for several years.

The comments came two days after Attorney-General Abubakar Malami threatened to arrest and prosecute any Nigerian caught using Twitter, saying a federal press release announcing suspension of the social media giant in the country would be enforced as a law.

Meanwhile, the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has directed all the broadcast stations in the country to deactivate their Twitter handles, following the banning of the microblogging app by the Federal Government.
