The Lagos police say it has arrested more suspects in connection with the murder of Usifo Ataga, the late Super TV CEO.

Hakeem Odumosu, Lagos commissioner of police, broke the news on Wednesday while parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Ikeja.

“We have established a case of conspiracy in the murder and we have arrested more suspects,” the CP said.

Odumosu, however, did not give details on the conditions under which the arrests were made.

The development comes a few days after Chidinma Ojukwu, a student of the University of Lagos who is the prime suspect in the case, had denied killing Ataga.

The 21-year-old had on June 24 confessed to stabbing Ataga “twice on the neck side”. She had alleged that the businessman forcefully had sex with her the first time but a dispute ensued after he attempted it again.

“I threw the knife to the bed and he was going for it but I also went for it. He dragged the knife with me and it broke and he fell on the floor,” she had said.

But in a recent interview that surfaced on Monday, Chidinma said she admitted to killing Ataga at the time because of pressure and the fact that nobody believed her.

“I don’t know what happened when I left the room to buy food. Because of what I did after by not alerting the police and also withdrawing money from his account, I feel guilty for what happened but I did not kill him,” she had said.
