With the conclusion of the second semi finals of the 13th edition of the Bolowotan Gold Cup all is now set for the finals which promises to very exciting given the pedigree of the two finals.
Speaking after the semi final matches, Chairman of Ikorodu Divisional Football Association, Lukman Shonibare expressed satisfaction with the standard of play in the competition.
“We (Ikorodu DFA) are very happy with the standard of play and the talents on parade, hopefully some of the young talents on parade will in the nearest future represent Nigeria” he said.
He revealed that the finals which date are yet to be decided promises to be exciting and highly entertaining, giving the pedigree of both sides, Victory FA are the defending champions, while N-TAB parade good players too.
The second semi final played on Tuesday saw N-TAB football club surviving a last minute scare when Adebax football club who equalised in the 87th minute to take the match into penalties shoot-out.
N-TAB FC broke the deadlock in the 17th minute with Lawal Wahab scoring from a close range after a goal mouth scramble, while
Niyi Ajayii scored the equaliser for the youthful Adebax football club toward the end of highly entertaining match played at Police Barracks Sports Field Igbogbo.
The match that witness a very large turnout end in draw and it went into straight penalty shoot-out with N-TAB football club winning scoring 6 to Adebax 5 to book a place in the finals.
However, on Monday the defending champions, Victory Football Academy
at the sane venue defeated Greater Height football club by a lone goal scored by Seun Adepoju to take his side into the finals for the second consecutive time.
Victory football Academy has they are set to defend the Trophy which has produced many talented young footballers many of which has gone on to represent the country, most recent and notable is Wisdom Ubani, a member of the National under 20 team.
