Sani Dangote, group vice-president of Dangote Industries Limited, is dead.

We understands that he died on Sunday at a US hospital where he was treating an ailment.

Sani Dangote is the younger brother of Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man.

“It is with a heavy heart but with total submission to Almighty Allah that we announce the passing on of our Group Vice President, Alhaji Sani Dangote today, 14th November, 2021,” Dangote Industries said in a statement in the wee hours of Monday.

“May Allah SWT grant him mercy and amit him in Aljannat-al-Firdaus.”

The deceased was the chairman of Dansa Holdings Ltd and was formerly a non-executive director at NASCON Allied Industries Plc.

An established businessman and serial investor, Sani Dangote had interests in the manufacturing, agriculture, banking, and oil services sectors.

He sits on the board of at least 14 companies including Nigerian Textile Mills Plc, Nutra Sweet Limited, Gum Arabic Limited, and Dangote Textile Mills Limited.

He is also a board member at Alsan Insurance Brokers, Dan-Hydro Company Limited, Dansa Food Processing Company Limited and Dangote Farms Limited.

Sani Dangote, a professional polo player, was a two-time president of the Lagos Polo Club.

He is a member of several chambers of commerce, a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Shipping of Nigeria and president of the Fertiliser Producers and Suppliers Association (FERSAN).

Sani Dangote was a one-time consul-general of the Romanian Embassy in Nigeria.
