The Osun State Police Command have been warned to be fair and investigate the audio in circulation in which the Chairman of Hilton Hotel, Rahmon Adedoyin allegedly recorded and made available to the public exonorating himself of the murdered of Mr. Timothy Adegoke.
The lawyer to the Family, Wemimo and Adekilekun Law firm, while addressing journalists in Osogbo said how could a suspect who claimed to be in police custody have the audacity to record an audio and sent it to the public, without insider connection, such act called for proper investigation.
According to the family lawyers, what could have also prompted the Osun State Command Police Public Relation Officer, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, to hastily tell members of the public that there was nothing to show that any form of mutilation was seen in the body of the deceased when exhumed from the shallow grave.
“At this juncture we wish to raise some pertinent questions which we believe are rational in the estimation of right-thinking Nigerians.This was contrary to what those who witnesses the exhumation of the deceased claim,
“The Police need to clear the air on the report of preferential and VIP treatments being accorded the owner of the hotel, Mr. Adedoyin. This is also already in the public domain and for the sake of fairness and an assurance of justice, the police need to speak up.
“We have also witnessed with dismay, the various attempts to confuse members of the public with endless statements bordering on the ‘innocence’ of the Chairman and founder of the hotel, We would rather prefer that all the suspects await their days in court to prove their innocence instead of resorting to the use of the media to appeal to sentiments.”
The Family, lawyer, however, call on the police to use this case to restore the confidence of Nigerians in its ability to unravel crimes, no matter how the perpetrators think they have covered their tracks.
It would be recalled that recently the deceased met his untimely and very brutal end when he lodge in Hilton hotel for two days when he came to write his executive MBA exam at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile -Ife.
Unfortunately, the deceased disappeared and the search by his family and the police led to the arrest of some staff of the hotel, including the owner of the hotel and the location where he was secretly buried in a shallow grave;
On behalf of the family, we wish to express our appreciation for the massive interests Nigerians have shown in this case and the strident calls for justice no matter how highly placed the perpetrators are.
