Ahead of their national cruiserweight boxing title clash, Abiodun “Infiniti” Afinni, has warned his opponent, Michael “Emirate” Godwin, to forget about beating him again in the presence of his wife and children when they meet on 24 December at GOtv Boxing Night 24.

The six-bout event will hold at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos, venue of their last encounter, which Emirate won via a fourth-round knockout.

The previous fight, which had Infiniti’s wife and children among the crowd, by Infiniti’s own admission, still leaves a bitter taste in his mouth.

The light-skinned boxer said he still feels pained by the defeat and will seek to avenge the disgrace the defeat brought him in the presence of his wife and children, who watched him fight for the first time.

“Emirate should forget that he will win again. I’ve not lived down the outcome of the last fight, as I was knocked out in front of my wife and children, who saw me fight for the first time ever. It has been difficult to cope with being floored in the presence of my wife and children. Nobody wants that to happen. So, this time, I’m going to do everything legitimate to win and prove to my family that I’m a real man,” said Infiniti.

The contest is one of the six bouts slated to hold at the event, which will see Zanku Records act, Jamopyper, perform live and broadcast live on SuperSport Select 2 (GOtv Channel 34) and SuperSport Variety 4 (DStv Channel 209).

The event will be headlined by the World Boxing Federation (WBF) International title defence between Nigeria’s Rilwan “Baby Face” Babatunde, reigning champion, and Ghana’s Justice “Qwick Action”. It will also feature the national lightweight title duel between Segun “Success” Olanrewaju and Adewale “Masevex” Masebinu. Like Infiniti, Masevex also carries a grudge arising from his defeat two years ago by Olanrewaju.

Two welterweight match-ups and one in the lightweight division are also lined up. In the former, Semiu “Jagaban” Olapade will face Taiwo “Gentle Boy” Olowu, while Willian “Kaki” Amosu will battle Segun “War” Adeyemi. The latter is a newbie clash between Saheed “Eagle” Azeez and Aminu “Lucky Boy” Akintayo.

The best boxer of the night will win the N1million cash prize attached to the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy.
