Moroccan referee Redouane Jiyed has been appointed to handle the first leg match of the epic Fifa World Cup qualifiers showdown which will see the Black Stars of Ghana take on Super Eagles of Nigeria, holding in 16 days’ time in Cape Coast.
The Moroccan was in charge when Ghana hosted and defeated Ethiopia 1-0 in the World Cup qualifications at the same venue in September last year.
The 42-year-old match official took charge of the 3rd place play-off game Burkina Faso and Cameroon at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations last month.
He had also officiated some other Africa Cup of Nations’ matches notably: Equatorial Guinea vs. Cote d’Ivoire in the group stages and Burkina Faso vs. Gabon in the round of 16.
Jiyed recently took charge of the CAF Champions League group stage match which saw Mamelodi Sundowns beat Al Ahly SC at the Cairo International Stadium.
