Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun state on Wednesday.
We understands that the meeting was scheduled for 1:00 pm at the residence of the former president.
“Bola Tinubu is to meet former President Olusegun Obasanjo today in Abeokuta at 1:00 pm,” a source had said.
It is unclear what the agenda of the meeting was, but it is speculated that it could be about the presidential bid of Tinubu.
Since the former governor of Lagos state began his presidential bid, this is the third time he will be visiting Ogun, but first time visiting Obasanjo.
Both men are political rivals.
In 2019, Tinubu asked Obasanjo to retire to his farm in Ota, Ogun state.
The former Lagos governor lashed out at the former president after he alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari was planning to rig the general election that year.
“You can hear the other expired leaders like Obasanjo, ranting and lying. Don’t believe him, don’t trust him. He is expired,” he had said at the time.
“With the sign of senility experienced by our dear brother, Uncle Obasanjo, I think Ota should be enough of a retirement place to keep quiet.”
Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives; Dapo Abidoun, Ogun state governor; Bisi Akande, former interim chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Adeyeye Enitan, the Ooni of Ife, were among those present at the meeting.
