Friday night with its reputation as a night of wild parties and clubbing begins to lose its appeal, especially as you get older and become a bit conscious about how you spend money.

Even if you set out with the best of intentions over the course of a typical Friday night out, it’s hard to save money.

But, there are plenty of things to do on a Friday night – whether you’re with friends, a partner, or alone – that cost next to nothing and will still keep you entertained. Try one of these Friday night activities to kick off your weekend without breaking the bank.

Host a movie marathon

Cue up your favorites for a movie night. (Itura and Covenant are both available on DStv at the moment, just saying!) Invite friends over for a double feature and surprise them with a selection of movie theater-style, stacks of chocolates, and boxes of candy, and do not forget to pop some popcorn!

Games night

A games night is a simple and inexpensive Friday night activity. You get to hang out with your friends and play various games all night. Bring out old favorites such as Monopoly or Scrabble, or look for new board games to play. It could also be card games or electronic games like the PS4 or PS5. It definitely saves money while also allowing you and your friends to laugh and catch up.

Karaoke night

Sing to your favorite songs while enjoying the company of good friends. Order food, have a beverage, and make a night of it. Throwing a karaoke night party is a fun way to spend a fun Friday night with friends. Prepare for a fun-filled and hilarious evening by practicing the classics.

Go bowling

A little friendly competition among friends always ends well, right? Playing a few games of bowling is a fun, satisfying way to start the weekend. Grab your friends and knock over a few pins. It’s the perfect place to meet because bowling works for large and small groups. You can even bowl solo to improve your game.

Watch turn up Friday

Last but definitely not least, Watch Turn Up Friday(TUF). Turn Up Friday is a Friday night show hosted by the Energy Gad, Media personality Dotun. TUF will provide you with all the entertainment you need to experience a delightful pre-weekend. It will help save cash while bringing you a sweat-free, smoke-free, noise-free club experience right in the comfort of your home. Catch new episodes by  9:30 pm on Africa Magic Urban and Africa Magic Family every Friday.

With this list of ideas, you’re sure to have plenty to do for a weekend of spontaneity, fun, and relaxation. You might learn a few things, and see a play you’ve never seen, but you definitely won’t be bored.
