League One Charlton’s reward for beating Brighton in the fourth round is a visit to Old Trafford to play against Manchester United. It is the first time the Addicks have gotten to this competition stage since 2006 when they had a 1-0 defeat against Wycombe Wanderers. Manchester United, however, won the cup in the 2016/17 season and is looking toward making it to the finals on Tuesday 10. Meanwhile, Newcastle’s fans are beginning to dream of glory. They will have their sights set on a semi-final berth as they host Leicester on Tuesday. The sides have had contrasting seasons, and the Magpies will be full of confidence that they can go a step closer to securing what would be the first major domestic trophy for 68 years on SuperSport La Liga (Dstv ch. 204 and GOtv ch.32).
Manchester City’s quest for a seventh Carabao Cup in 10 years will continue with a tie against Southampton. City beat defending champions Liverpool, earning a 3-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium in the first game after the World Cup break, and their next test will be a visit to St Mary’s on Wednesday 11.
