The recently concluded ArtMiabo International Art Festival (AMIAF) 2023 was a resounding success, with art lovers from across the globe coming together to celebrate African art and culture.
One of the highlights of the festival was the exclusive screening of Journey of the Beats, a docu-series that tells the untold story of Afrobeats.
“Journey of the Beats” is a Showmax Original doc-series that follows the journey of Nigerian and black music through the years, with a focus on the origins of Afrobeats. Produced by creative entrepreneur, Obi Asika, the ten-part documentary series features music historians and some of Nigeria’s biggest artists, including 2Baba, P.Square, Onyeka Onwenu, Daddy Showkey, Flavour, and D’Banj.
Thanks to Showmax’s partnership with AMIAF 2023, festival attendees were treated to an exclusive screening of the first episode of “Journey of the Beats.” The audience was hooked from the start until the end of the episode. The combination of historical footage, interviews with music legends, and personal stories from the artists themselves kept everyone glued to the screen. Throughout the screening, there were audible gasps of awe and moments of quiet reflection as the stories unfolded.
The reception to Journey of the Beats was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees praising the series for its insightful and honest portrayal of the history of Afrobeats.
Miabo Enyadike, the founder of AMIAF, expressed gratitude to Showmax for their collaboration.
