Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, the first son of the late Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, has been announced as the new Senior Cleric of the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos.

Making the announcement on Sunday during the Church Service, a member of the Church’s Board of Trustee, said the late cleric confirmed the succession plan to three different people on the Board  before his passing.

The senior Odukoya, who was bereaved twice in space of weeks in 2021 from death of his wife from second marriage and twin sister, died on the 7th of August in the United States of America. He was buried on September 9, 2023.

We learnt that the succession, which has received the blessing of the Church’s BoT and Bishop Mike Okonkwo, who is the spiritual mentor of the late Odukoya, will formally takes place on 30th of September.

Jimmy, who is a Nollywood Actor, got his education at the Oral Roberts University,  United States. His sister, Tolu Tolu Odukoya Ijogun is the new associate Pastor of the Church.

Addressing the congregation, Rotimi Okpaise, a pastor, said the late Taiwo Odukoya confided in the board of trustees (BoT) members about the succession plan after his demise.

He said: “Bishop Mike Okonkwo called on the BoT last week on the succession plan and it was confirmed to him that Pastor Taiwo left a word on succession plan before he departed.

“Pastor Taiwo before his death left words with three individuals who are trustees of the Church.

“Pastor Jimmy also said Pastor Taiwo told him to carry on with the mantle after his departure.

“Subsequently, a board meeting was summoned and we decided to follow the constitution.

“Pastor Jimmy was nominated and he was unanimously voted for by all BoT members. With this, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya is now the our Senior Pastor,” he said.

This newspaper reports that the announcement was made during the two church services on Sunday.
