Flutterwave’s former VP of design and innovation Ted Oladele has launched Mira which seeks to reduce the long wait faced by food buyers by utilizing scan codes for payment.

Mira has introduced a QR code payment system designed to revolutionize the dining experience by allowing customers to instantly pay for their meals.

This innovative solution aims to minimize wait times, enhance predictability, and bring order to the dining process. With Mira, patrons can easily scan a QR code, access their personalized bill, and make instant payments through bank transfers, Apple Pay, or card transactions.

Founded in 2022 by Ted Oladele, Mira’s inception was motivated by the desire to eliminate the typical inconveniences associated with ordering meals at restaurants.

The platform, now adopted by over 100 restaurants in Lagos, operates on a subscription model, charging an annual fee of ₦15,000 and 2% per processed order. Mira successfully secured $200,000 in funding through a family and friends round, having processed $60,000 to date.

Beyond its primary focus on dining establishments, Mira extends its services to online vendors by providing a direct ordering link through Instagram or WhatsApp. This approach helps businesses avoid the fees imposed by third-party food delivery platforms.

Looking ahead, Mira has ambitious plans to scale up its operations by onboarding major restaurants across Lagos.

According to Oladele, the platform not only contributes to businesses’ increased profit margins but also offers a valuable payment tracking feature, aiding enterprises in efficiently managing their accounts.
