Mo Abudu, the CEO of EbonyLife Media, is set to release a short film titled ‘Dust to Dreams’.

Directed by Idris Elba, the British actor, the film is a collaboration between EbonyLife Films and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) through its Creative Africa Nexus (Canex).

‘Dust to Dreams’ follows the relationship between a mother and her teenage daughter as she meets her father for the first time.

The movie features Nollywood stars including Nse Ikpe-Etim, Eku Edewor, Atlanta Bridget Johnson, former Nigerian Idol contestant Constance Olatunde, and British singer Seal.

‘Dust to Dreams’ is created by Abudu. The media entrepreneur will also serve as both executive producer and producer.

Heidi Uys is the supervising producer of the project. Other producers are Temidayo Makanjuola, Inem King, and Vanessa Demme.

Last year, Abudu and Elba announced a partnership to empower and uplift African stories through their production companies.

The filmmakers said the partnership would build capacity and foster an authentic representation of African works in global film and TV projects.

These co-productions between Elba’s Green Door Pictures and Abudu’s EbonyLife Media will provide a range of content for broadcasters and streamers as well as theatrical distribution globally.

Speaking on the project, Abudu said: “We believe that Africa has the talent and the stories to captivate the world. We plan to explore the best that African stories have to offer global audiences.”
