Nigeria’s telecom giant, MTN has closed all of its stores and service centers in Nigeria.

This follows the network provider’s recent line-barring action, which infuriated several of its customers nationwide.

In a viral shared social media video on Monday, a crowd is observed demolishing a barricade fence near the MTN office.

The video showed a large gathering of irate customers damaging the telecom provider’s office in FESTAC Town neighborhood, Lagos after the network blocked users because of the mismatch in their SIM registration and NIN.

However, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a response to the circulated video on X.com stated that the DPO of FESTAC and his men had successfully restored normalcy and peace at the scene.

“This should not be the way to go,” he said.

Reacting on Tuesday, MTN said that all of its stores would close today.

“Yello customer, please be informed that our shops nationwide will be closed today, 30th July 2024,” the statement sighted on X read.
