NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited’s (NSML) Maritime Centre of Excellence (MCOE) has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first training center in Africa to receive accreditation from the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (UK MCA).

This prestigious accreditation enables the MCOE to deliver and issue certificates for the STCW 2010 Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) and Basic Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations courses, solidifying its position among globally recognized maritime training institutions.

The UK MCA’s accreditation is renowned for its stringent standards, making it a “Gold Standard” in maritime training. The MCOE underwent a rigorous two-year review process, demonstrating its commitment to excellence and adherence to international standards.

NSML’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Abdulkadir K. Ahmed, expressed pride in the achievement, highlighting its significance for the maritime industry in Africa.

The accreditation allows the MCOE to offer accredited courses to seafarers across Nigeria and beyond, reducing the need for international travel and associated costs.

The newly accredited courses are crucial for seafarers, as they are mandatory for career advancement and safe operations at sea.

With this accreditation, the MCOE is poised to become a leading hub for maritime training in Africa, setting a new benchmark for the industry.

NSML, formerly NLNG Ship Management Limited, has evolved into an international maritime services company providing a range of top-notch services, including terminal management, maritime training, project management, consultancy, and business advisory services.

With a commitment to professionalism, innovation, and customer satisfaction, NSML continues to lead the way in the maritime sector
