A pastor, Godwin Ikuru, Founder of the Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, Lagos, has been arraigned before a Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, on the alleged offences of conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and unlawfully interfering with the use of private property.
The pastor popularly called prophet Godwin was arraigned before the court presided over by Chief Magistrate E. Kubeinje by Barrister Morufu Animashaun, upon conclusion of investigation conducted by the IGP Monitoring Team, Abuja.
Arraigning the Pastor, the prosecutor, Barrister Animashaun, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences on or about January 21, 2025, at No. 106, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos.
The prosecutor alleged that Ikuru entered a parcel of land which is in the lawful possession of one Abibat Bankole-Apena, illegally
He told the court that the alleged illegal act of the defendant contravened Section 52 of the Criminal Code Law, Ch. C17, Vol. 3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015. And Section 340 of the same law.
Part of the charge reads: “That you, Pastor Godwin Ikuru, on or about the 21st day of January, 2025, at No. 106, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, in the Lagos Magisterial District, unlawfully interfered with the use of a private property belonging to one Abibat Bankole-Apena and thereby committed an offence.”
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Upon his not guilty plea, the prosecutor urged the court to remand him pending the determination of the charge.
However, based on the oral bail application made by the defendant’s lawyer, the presiding Magistrate granted him bail in the sum of ₦250,000, with two sureties in like sum, among other terms
The case has been adjourned to August 6, 2025, for mention.
