The state tootball team to the ongoing 9th National Youth Games started on the front feet today at the St Patrick College field in Asaba, Delta State.
With first half goals from Awwal Abeeb gave the boys from Centre of Excellence the lead going into second half.
Joseph Micheal and Amodu Samuel added a goal each to give the Coach Adeshina Yusuf led team their first three points in group D that had the host. Delta and Nasarawa state in the group.
The Lagos boys will battle their host, Delta state, tomorrow evening at the same venue by 3:00 pm.
Also, the girls team also started on a positive note beating Bayelsa state by 2 unrepied goals from the boots of Kemi Adegbuyi and Rafiu Tosin.
Speaking after the match, the head coach of the team, Coach Adeshina Yusuf, praised his wards for sticking to their game plans, urging to remain focused on the task ahead.
Chairman of the Lagos State FA, Haijja Gafar Liameed, also expressed satisfaction over the results, calling it impressive.
While charging the team to remain focused, he revealed that they efforts will be adequately rewarded.
