She said the facility, named after her, was not just a building rather a door to life, hope and a healthier future for mothers and children across the North-East region.

Tinubu, who highlighted the critical importance of maternal and child healthcare in national development, said the facility aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, prioritising access to quality healthcare, especially women and children.

She said the hospital was expected to significantly reduce maternal and infant mortality rate, and offer much needed relief to families in Gombe State and adjoining communities.

The first lady thanked Gov. Inuwa Yahaya, his wife, Asma’u Yahaya, and the people of the state for naming the hospital in her honour.

While commending the governor’s sustained efforts towards improving healthcare infrastructure, Tinubu acknowledged Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), for its laudable project and tireless work towards achieving the SDGs in Nigeria.

Earlier, Orelope-Adefulire, said the unveiling of the facility reaffirmed their collective commitment to deliver quality healthcare to the most vulnerable settlements in the society.

“This hospital represents a vital step in Nigeria’s journey towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being for all,” she said.

According to Orelope-Adefulire, the facility is one of the numerous Mother and Child Hospitals being built and equipped through her office in collaboration with sub-national governments.

“The goal is to support them in reducing and eventually eradicating maternal and infant mortality, and to ensure equitable access to essential and universal healthcare for all,” she said.

The first lady also inaugurated the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Gombe, constructed by the state government.
