Two siblings were involved in a heated brawl at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Sunday after missing a domestic flight.

The spokesperson for the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

Achimugu, who described the incident was the “strangest thing,” said the sisters, aged 31 and 23, were booked to travel on an NG Eagle flight but missed it after arriving at the airport late.

Achimugu wrote on X: “The strangest thing just happened at the Abuja airport.

“Two sisters, both adults, booked to travel via a NG EAGLE flight. They missed the flight because they were late.

“Perhaps one of them blamed her sibling for their missing flight (not sure), but these two siblings began to fight each other. They scattered luggage and other items before being dragged to the interrogation office by airport security.

“Inside, they began to fight again until one of them fainted. Calls were made for an ambulance to take her to the hospital, but her sister said that the problem is more spiritual than medical and, therefore, did not need a hospital.

“She is presently receiving attention at the FAAN clinic. Hopefully, she makes a recovery. This is not how things should be.”

In another post, Achimugu stated that the elder sister, on arrival at the FAAN clinic, began to fight with her younger sister.

He added: “They were both brought back to the crime office for a resolution, but the fierce fighting continued.

“The police were invited, and both sisters were led away by officers of the Nigeria Police.

“This is one strange incident. I am hoping that it is just a case of temper tantrums. If these ladies had been on that flight and started to fight on board the aircraft…….hmmmm……”
