The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has distanced himself from a poster circulating on social media that falsely portrays him as a candidate for the 2027 Bayelsa State governorship election under the banner of “The Youths Mandate 2027.”

In a statement issued on Friday, October 24, 2025, Dr. Willie Etim, Special Assistant on Media to the NDDC Managing Director, described the poster as the work of “mischief-makers and detractors” aimed at distracting Ogbuku from his duties.

The statement clarified that Ogbuku had no knowledge of or connection to the poster or its sponsors and has not expressed any intention to contest for the governorship.

“Dr. Samuel Ogbuku remains fully committed to his current responsibilities as the Managing Director of the NDDC, diligently implementing the Commission’s mandate in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for sustainable development in the Niger Delta region,” the statement read.

The NDDC urged the public to disregard the poster and any related materials, emphasising that they did not originate from Ogbuku or his office.

The commission reaffirmed its focus on advancing development projects in the Niger Delta and called for an end to speculative distractions.
