Making the presentation, the commissioner of police said that the disbursement of the money to the beneficiaries was at the instance of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

He sympathised with the beneficiaries who lost their loved ones during the course of their service to the nation.

He assured them that the police remained deeply committed to the welfare of officers and their families.

Eribo disclosed that the police would continue to evolve and revitalise welfare schemes to ensure adequate support for the families of fallen heroes and improve the conditions under which officers serve.

The CP encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the money by channelling them into legitimate business and the upkeep of their households.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for the gesture, noting that this would go a long way to lessen their burden, while promising to make judicious use of the funds.
