In a bid to strengthen leadership and enhance operational effectiveness, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved the appointment and posting of senior officers to key positions across the Nigerian Army.
The shakeup aims to reinvigorate command structures and reposition the Army for heightened operational effectiveness.
The newly appointed senior officers include:
– Major General Bamidele Alabi: Appointed Chief of Policy and Plans (Army) at Army Headquarters Department of Policy and Plans.
– Major General Jamal Abdulsalam: Appointed Chief of Defence Operations at Defence Headquarters Department of Operations.
– Major General Peter Mala: Appointed Commander, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC).
Other notable appointments include:
– Major General Samson Jiya: Appointed Chief of Defence Accounts and Budget at Defence Headquarters Department of Defence Accounts and Budget.
– Major General Mayirenso Saraso: Appointed Chief of Operations (Army) at Army Headquarters Department of Operations.
– Major General Isa Abdullahi: Appointed Chief of Administration (Army) at Army Headquarters Department of Administration
Field Commanders and Other Appointments
The COAS also appointed senior officers as field commanders, including:
– Major General Saidu Audu*: Appointed Force Commander, Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), N’Djamena.
– Major General Warrah Idris*: Appointed Commander, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
– Major General Oluremi Fadairo*: Appointed General Officer Commanding and Commander Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA.
COAS’s Charge
Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu charged the newly appointed senior officers to leverage their operational experience, administrative acumen, and strategic foresight to drive a disciplined and combat-ready Army.
He urged them to sustain the current operational momentum, strengthen interagency collaboration, and uphold the Nigerian Army’s core ethos of loyalty, selfless service, integrity, and excellence.
