A Magistrate’s Court in Joson Thursday sentenced 25-year-old trader, Yahaya Abdullahi to 12 months in prison for stealing MTN cables.
The Magistrate, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict, who pleaded guilty to a three-count charge of trespass, mischief and theft.
Pati sentenced the convict to six months in prison for trespass, 12 months for mischief and 12 months for stealing or the convict should pay N20,000 fine in the alternative.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Daniel Damulak told the court that the case was reported on Oct. 13 at the Anglo-Jos Police Station by the complainant, Masham Jiduana.
Damulak said that the convict went to the MTN mast basement with the help of his friends, now at large, and stole the cables .
He said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
