Despite early commencement, voter turnout remained low across much of the state. The exercise was also overshadowed by numerous reports of vote-buying.

According to INEC, Anambra has 2,802,790 registered voters, with females forming a slight majority.

A total of 15 political parties are challenging the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which is seeking to retain control of the state.
