As part of the activities to celebrate the 77th Foundation Anniversary and 2025 Convocation ceremonies of the University of Ibadan, staff and students of the Department of Music displayed their musical prowess to thrill members of the university community at the 2025 Night of Music.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp said the university continually honours its tradition of excellence and vibrant spirit.

He stated that music is an expression of the excellence that the university is known for, saying the night of music has become a tradition of its artistic acumen.

Professor Adebowale noted that the event offers an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of music produced in the university, disclosing that the programme was approved by management to showcase the capabilities of the Department of Music.
He urged participants to reflect on the profound role of arts in advancing society, fostering peace and bridging gaps in society.
The Night of Music was attended by principal officers of the university, staff and students, as well as music lovers.
The performances included well rehearsed traditional songs and orchestra performed by the UI Choir and classical renditions by the Ibadan Philharmonic Society.
There was also a solo trumpet performance and presentation by the UI brass and wood winds, as well as a scintillating pop music rendition.
