Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has formally distanced himself from the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) decision to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
In a strongly worded statement, Governor Fintiri asserted that he is not part of the move, which he believes is detrimental to the PDP’s stability.
“I, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State, wish to categorically state that I dissociate myself from the position of expelling the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike, from the PDP,” the Governor declared.
Fintiri, a prominent PDP figure, stressed that the decision to expel Wike is “not in the best interest of the party.”
“I will not be party to any attempt that could further plunge the PDP into unending crisis,” he stated.
The Adamawa Governor underscored his commitment to internal unity, stating that his primary goal is the “peace and stability of the PDP.” He added that he will not support anything that could lead to the party’s “disintegration.”
Governor Fintiri concluded by calling on all party stakeholders to prioritize reconciliation and dialogue to heal internal divisions and promote cohesion.
“I believe that peace and reconciliation are the only ways forward for our great party,” he said. “I urge all stakeholders to work towards healing the divisions within the party and to strive for unity and cohesion.”
