The suspect, however, could not fulfill the bail requirements.

Maha adjourned the suit until Jan. 28, for hearing.

The prosecuting counsel, Mr Daniel Otunla, had told the court that the defendant committed the crime on Aug. 4, at Molete, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Otunla said that the NDLEA operatives got a tip-off from informants alleging that the suspect was into the business of illicit drug trading.

He said that the operatives swung into action and arrested Osopale allegedly in possession of 5.5kg of weed substance which was later confirmed to be Cannabis Sativa.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provision of Section 11(C) of the NDLEA Act Cap. N30 Law of the Federation, 2004.
