VP Shettima arrives in Ivory Coast for Ouattara’s inauguration

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire to represent President Bola Tinubu at President Alassane Ouattara’s fourth-term swearing-in ceremony.

Mr Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice-President, said this in a statement on Sunday.

He said Shettima was received at the airport by Côte d’Ivoire’s Prime Minister, Robert Mambe, and other senior officials.

Nkwocha said Shettima would be expected to join African leaders and dignitaries at the inauguration on Monday at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan.

“Ouattara won re-election on Oct. 25, securing another term to lead the West African nation with strong diplomatic ties with Nigeria.

“At the inauguration, Shettima will reaffirm Nigeria’s commitment to democratic values and constitutional governance.

“Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire collaborate on security, trade, and development through ECOWAS and the African Union, backed by a Bi-National Commission and agreements on human trafficking, agriculture, and digital economy.”

The Vice-President is expected back in Abuja after the inauguration.
