Hon. Adewale Adebayo, a real estate developer, has been elected as the gubernatorial candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Osun State for the upcoming 2026 election.
His nomination was confirmed by Idowu Babarinde, Chairman of the APM Primary Committee, during a presentation at the party’s State Secretariat in Ogo-Oluwa, at the weekend.
Babarinde said, “The mode of primary adopted for today’s exercise was the affirmation of the consensus candidate, from which Hon. Adewale Adebayo emerged as the party’s nominee through a fair and credible process.” He also encouraged party members to unite ahead of the polls.
In his acceptance speech, Adebayo expressed confidence in securing victory in the gubernatorial race, scheduled for 8 August 2026.
“Today marks the beginning of APM’s unstoppable march to Bola Ige House in 2026. This endorsement is not merely about me, but about all of us—united, focused, and ready to turn our vision for Osun into reality,” he stated.
He emphasised the APM’s mission, stating, “APM is not just a party; we are a movement of the people, by the people, and for the people. Our objective is to restore good governance, rebuild trust, and revive Osun’s foundations as we work to rescue the state from failing leadership.”
Adebayo criticised the current government, asserting, “Public trust has eroded, promises remain unfulfilled, and the people are weary. Just as the PDP failed Governor Adeleke, the people of Osun will do the same in his upcoming re-election bid come 8 August 2026. APM is ready to send him back where he belongs.”
He commended the APM Primary Election Committee for conducting a transparent, credible, and peaceful election process, led by Hon. Babarinde Nurudeen Idowu.
