AMJON elect new leaders, Vera Osokpo emerges president, as members impeach Kelvin Kagbare

The President of Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) Kelvin Kagbare has been impeached by members and his Vice-president Vera Osokpo elected as the new President of the Association.

The decision was taken at an extra ordinary emergency meeting of the Association held on Tuesday, 16th December 2025 at AMJON Secretariat in Apapa following the dissolution of the Kelvin Kagbare led regime through a unanimous decision.

The newly re-elected executive members are as follows – Vera Osokpo President, Raymond Tedunjaye Vice President, Segun, Oladipupo Secretary, Ugochukwu Ezuruike -Asst Secretary, Treasurer – Barnabas Esiet, Fin- Secretary, Joshua Okoria, Uzor Odigbo- PRO; Rhoda Ogunseye – Welfare, Gloria Nwafor- Provost.

The decision was consequent upon the colossal failure of the Kelvin Kagbare led regime and its inability to be purposeful and entrenched cohesion and progress.

In her acceptance speech, the newly elected president Vero Osokpo applauded members for their steadfastness and tenancy in the face of the poor leadership of the dissolved executive.

She called for unity, cooperation and useful suggestions to enhance the progress of the association.
