Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the appointment of five special advisers, including two former commissioners who previously served in his administration.

The development comes just days after a minor cabinet reshuffle that saw the redeployment of the Commissioner for Sports, Barr. Christopher Green, to the Ministry of Justice as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

However, a statement from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr Honour Sirawoo, clarified that Green will continue to oversee the Ministry of Sports until a substantive commissioner is named.

Among those appointed are Prof. Peter Medee, former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, and Barr. Eloka Tasie-Amadi, former Commissioner for Works. Both were affected by the recent Supreme Court judgment that affirmed Martin Amaewhule as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The announcement was contained in a Government Special Announcement released in Port Harcourt on Thursday and made available to journalists.

“The Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the appointment of the following persons as Special Advisers: Barrister Eloka Tasie-Amadi, Professor Peter Medee, Barrister Emmanuel Frank Fubara, Hon. Victor Ekaro and Dr Darlington Oji,” the statement read.

The newly appointed advisers are expected to be sworn in at noon on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt.

“Those to be sworn in are expected to be seated by 11:30 a.m.,” the statement added.
