Centre-back Semi Ajayi came close to handing Nigeria the lead after 10 minutes, but his goal-bound header was cleared off the line.

The breakthrough came for Nigeria in the 20th minute.

Akor Adams cut the ball back for Ademola Lookman, who swept home perfectly.

The Super Eagles doubled their lead five minutes later through Osimhen.

Iwobi picked a stunning defence-splitting pass from deep to release Lookman, who drove forward and fired a low cross for Osimhen to slot into the net.

Eric Chelle’s men doubled their effort two minutes after the break through Osimhen.

Lookman linked up with Osimhen once again, sliding in a clever pass for the striker to slot the ball into the net.

The Atalanta winger was provided again 14 minutes from time.

His smart pass was powered into the top corner by Akor.

The Super Eagles will face the winner of the Round of 16 tie between Democratic Republic of Congo and Algeria in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
