The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Ngozi Odu, has formally registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Themomentng understands that Odu completed her registration at her ward in Akabuka town, Ward 8, Unit 11, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state.
Shortly after registering, the deputy governor broke into the song “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand,” a tune closely associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, drawing attention from party supporters present at the venue.
Her defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) comes weeks after Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara also joined the APC following a meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Fubara was subsequently registered as a member of the ruling party by Tony Okocha, the APC chairman in Rivers State, who said the action was carried out on the directive of the party’s national secretariat.
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, recently declared Governor Fubara as the leader of the party in Rivers State, amid ongoing political realignments in the oil-rich state.
