Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Benibo Anabraba, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), hours after resigning his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday.
Anabraba had earlier in the day announced his departure from the PDP in a letter titled, ‘Resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party’, describing the move as a personal decision.
He also expressed gratitude for the political opportunities offered to him during his time in the PDP and wished the party success in its future endeavours.
However, in a statement released Monday evening by Juliana Masi, Head of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the SSG, Anabraba’s registration as an APC member was formally confirmed.
“Dr Anabraba registered his membership on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Ward 1, Unit 1, Bob-Manuel’s Compound, Abonnema, Akuku Toru Local Government Area of the state,” the statement read.
According to the statement, the SSG noted that his registration would now enable him to fully engage in all APC activities.
“The SSG said the registration formally confirms his identity as a party member and enables him to fully participate in all APC activities, and most importantly to support His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, Governor of Rivers State, in his Rivers First mission and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration,” Masi added.
Anabraba also expressed optimism that the alignment between the Rivers State Government and the Federal Government would bring greater benefits to the people of the state.
