Victor Osimhen reportedly threatened to quit Nigeria’s Afcon squad after an on-pitch clash with Ademola Lookman, Fulham forward, during their 4–0 win over Mozambique. The incident followed earlier teamwork as Lookman set up two of Osimhen’s goals, but frustration grew when passes didn’t reach him.
Osimhen confronted Lookman aggressively, pushed aside captain Wilfred Ndidi, and was even restrained by a Mozambique defender before being substituted for Moses Simon. After the match, he left the stadium early, dropped his accreditation, and said he was “done” with the national team, planning to return to Turkey.
The episode raises concerns over Osimhen’s temperament, coming after a previous clash with former coach Finidi George. Meanwhile, Lookman remains Afcon’s standout performer with seven goal contributions, but Nigeria’s victory has been overshadowed by the potential crisis with their star striker.
