An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded Akinola Amodun, 28, and Nwoko Samuel, 30, over alleged theft of iron worth N18 million.

Jimoh stated that the defendants conspired to commit felony, including stealing and malicious damage.

He added that they forcibly entered a prayer camp with the intent to steal.

According to the prosecutor, the defendants vandalised 24 H-beam irons and 22 angle irons, valued at N8 million, belonging to Prophet Adeyemo Olutope.

He further said they stole 24 H-beam irons, 22 angle irons, 24 iron plates, and two storex tanks, totalling N10 million.

Jimoh explained that the defendants fraudulently received stolen property from Nwoko Samuel, all valued at N10 million, belonging to Olutope.

“The offence contravenes sections 81, 383, 390(9), 427, 451 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002,” he added.

The defendants’ counsel applied for bail in liberal terms, pledging his clients would not abscond.

Magistrate Abosede Sarumi refused bail but ordered their remand at the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ile-Ife, pending consideration of the bail application.

Sarumi adjourned the case until Jan. 12 and ordered it to be mentioned at Ipetumodu Magisterial District.
