The Rivers State Police Command have arrested and detained several staff members of the Real Madrid Academy in connection with a fire outbreak at the academy’s facility.

Those detained reportedly include electricians, cleaners and security personnel working at the academy.

Sources told The Whistler that the arrests were ordered by a serving commissioner in the state following the incident.

It was gathered that the affected workers were taken into custody on Tuesday morning and detained at the Elekahia Police Station, where they allegedly spent the night.

Sources at the station confirmed that the arrests were part of ongoing investigations aimed at determining the cause of the fire, which occurred at the academy a day earlier.

Further checks revealed that the matter has since been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a more detailed probe.

As of the time of filing this report, the Rivers State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the arrests or the circumstances surrounding the fire.

Investigations are said to be ongoing.
