A yet-to-be-identified young woman has admitted to collecting human hair from salons and selling it to internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo boys,” during an interrogation captured in a circulating video.
In the viral footage, the woman confirmed that the act was not her first time, stating that she had been involved in similar activities across several parts of Rivers State. She mentioned Rumola, Rukpoku and Rumosi as areas where she had previously collected hair.
When asked if she deliberately went into salons to collect people’s hair, the woman answered in the affirmative. She further disclosed that the hair was sold to internet fraudsters, although she did not explain what it was used for.
According to her, payments for the hair varied, depending on the buyer. “At times ₦2,000, at times ₦3,000,” she said, referring to the amount she received per collection.
The revelation has sparked concern on social media, with many Nigerians expressing fears over the possible rit¥al or criminal use of human hair and calling on security agencies to investigate the individuals involved.
As of the time of reporting, authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident or confirm whether arrests have been made beyond the interrogation shown in the video.
