The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State, Dr. Najeem Folasayo Salaam, has initiated a strategic consultative visit to traditional rulers in the Iwo, Olaoluwa, and Ayedire Local Government Areas of the state.
During these engagements, Dr. Salaam reaffirmed his dedication to inclusive governance, cultural preservation, grassroots development, and people-centered leadership. He emphasized the vital role of traditional institutions as key stakeholders in governance, recognizing their lasting significance as custodians of culture, peace, and community cohesion.
“Traditional rulers deserve respect, and it is essential for me to meet with you, the Kabiesis and Baales, to seek your blessings and support for the upcoming governorship election in Osun State,” Salaam stated. He highlighted the importance of local leaders, saying, “The Baales are close to the people, especially at the grassroots, which is why we have come to meet you first. You are very important to our party, ADC; we cannot overlook your significance.”
Dr. Salaam pledged that if elected, his administration would prioritize consultation, responsiveness, and effective service delivery for all residents of Osun State.
In response, one of the monarchs underscored the need for sincerity, accountability, and unity in leadership as the state prepares for its next electoral journey.
In a separate meeting with community heads in Iwo-land, Dr. Salaam encouraged the local leaders (Baales) to educate their communities about the importance of active participation in the electoral process. He stressed the ADC’s credibility as a platform capable of fostering sustainable grassroots development throughout the state.
ADC leaders, including Alhaji Razak Salinsile and former Senator Adelere Oriolowo, representing Osun West, also urged traditional rulers to support Dr. Salaam and the party as they approach the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
