Birmingham City have completed the signing of Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Osman on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.

The 21-year-old, born in Accra, Ghana, comes to St Andrew’s on a temporary deal after Brighton opted to recall him from his season-long loan at AJ Auxerre in Ligue 1, where he featured 16 times and provided two assists.

Osman’s football journey has already seen him gain experience across Europe. A graduate of Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy, he made his professional breakthrough with Danish side FC Nordsjælland, before earning a big-money move to Brighton in 2024 for around £16 million.

Although Osman has yet to make his Premier League debut for the Seagulls, he has spent the past two seasons on loan to develop his game.

He spent 2024/25 with Dutch giants Feyenoord, making 22 league appearances and scoring three goals before a subsequent loan to Auxerre in Ligue 1.

His arrival at Birmingham City offers Osman a new challenge in one of Europe’s most competitive second-tier leagues.

After starting just 6 out of the last 16 Ligue 1 games, the Ghanaian is desperate for consistent playing time to help aid in his development.

Birmingham City are currently striving to climb the Championship table, and the addition of Osman gives manager Chris Davies more attacking options as the club aims to secure a push toward the play-off places in the closing months of the season.

For Osman, it’s an opportunity to showcase his talent in English football and build on his international experience, having already earned three senior caps for the Ghana national team, the Black Stars.

Birmingham City are at away in the Championship against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday, a match that might have come too soon for Osman.
