Kwara Government has started installing new electricity transformers across the state to ease power shortages, improve access to reliable electricity and stimulate local economic activities.

Its Commissioner for Energy, Mr AbdulAzeez AbdulGaniy, disclosed this on Saturday in Ilorin while inspecting one of the approved installation sites at Egbejila, along Asa Dam Road.

AbdulGaniy said the installation of 34 transformers was part of deliberate efforts by the state government to strengthen power supply and support households, businesses and small-scale enterprises.

He explained that installation work had already commenced in Shao, Moro Local Government Area, as well as other communities across the state.

According to him, the project will cover all 16 local government areas of Kwara, ensuring a fair spread of infrastructure to underserved communities.

The commissioner listed some beneficiary locations to include Caliphate Estate and the Lubcon area; Baba Ode Halbash Bakery, opposite Osin Aremu, off Asa-Dam; Ojodu Community in Baboko Ward; and Mandate Reservoir, all in Ilorin West Local Government Area, among others.

He assured communities yet to benefit from the current phase that additional locations would be captured in subsequent phases of the project.

AbdulGaniy reaffirmed the commitment of the administration to equitable development.

He noted that improved electricity supply was critical to raising living standards and driving sustainable socio-economic growth across the state.
