President Tinubu arrives Türkiye for state visit

President Bola Tinubu on Monday arrived in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Türkiye, on a state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.

This is contained in a statement by Mr Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on Monday in Abuja.

The President’s aircraft touched down at the Ankara Esenboğa Airport at exactly 9:03 p.m. local time.

He was received by a Turkish government delegation led by the Minister of National Education, Mr Yusuf Tekin.

Also present were the Chargé d’Affaires at the Nigerian Embassy in Türkiye, Ambassador Zayyad Abdulsalam, and other embassy officials.

At the President’s hotel, he was welcomed by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN.

Others at the hotel reception include the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun; Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr Dele Alake; and Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa.

Also in attendance were the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; and Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr Kingsley Udeh, SAN.

Others were the Minister of State for Industry, Mr John Enoh; Chairman, House Committee on Defence, Rep. Babajimi Benson; Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Mr Daniel Bwala; and Director-General, National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.

The President’s visit is aimed at strengthening the cordial relations between Nigeria and Türkiye and exploring further areas of cooperation for mutual benefit.

During the visit, Tinubu will hold talks with his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The visit will also feature the signing of Memoranda of Understanding between both countries, alongside other official engagements.
