The tribute ceremony took place at the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja, where speakers reflected on Ezea’s life, character, and impact in the National Assembly. Akpabio described the late lawmaker as a courageous, principled, and vocal member of the Senate whose absence would be deeply felt.

Ezea, a member of the 10th Senate, passed away in November 2025 after a short illness. He was widely known as one of the prominent voices from the South-East and a respected figure in the Red Chamber.

In his remarks, Akpabio said the senator’s passing was a painful loss, particularly coming at a time when the National Assembly had suffered multiple bereavements. He noted that the news of Ezea’s death came as a shock not only to his family and constituents but also to his colleagues in the Senate.

According to the Senate President, the past two years have been especially difficult for lawmakers, with several senators lost in quick succession. He recalled the sudden death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah abroad, describing it as a reminder of the fragility of life and the need for politicians to live with moderation, faith, and peace.

Akpabio praised Ezea’s performance as a legislator, highlighting his strong interventions during Senate debates and his composed, dignified presence. He added that while death is inevitable, the late senator left behind a legacy of values and service that should be upheld.

Speaking on behalf of the 10th Senate, Akpabio extended condolences to Ezea’s family, constituents, and the people of Enugu State.

Several other political leaders also spoke at the event, paying tribute to the late senator. Ezea is expected to be laid to rest in his hometown in Enugu this weekend.
