The Management of the College of Education (now Akwa Ibom State University of Education), Afaha Nsit, has taken note of recent biased and baseless media reports circulating in the social media concerning the institution’s Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre and the outcome of the latest accreditation exercise in preparation for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration and examination.
For clarity, the development relates strictly to specific technical compliance requirements identified during JAMB’s routine evaluation process. It does not represent institutional decline, a disruption of academic activities, or unjustly weaponized as evidence of administrative failure.
It is important to state that on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the CBT Centre successfully hosted the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) examinations, further demonstrating its operational functionality and technical viability under the current Management. The Centre has continued to serve as an intervention and support hub for other institutions requiring examination facilities, while consistently adapting to evolving technical benchmarks prescribed by JAMB.
In preparation for the recent accreditation exercise, the College complied with all stipulated requirements, including the installation of approved security surveillance systems, replacement of over fifty computer units, and full deployment of the required examination software across all 250 systems. The only outstanding requirement was the mandatory AUTO-BOT Test, which could not be concluded within the stipulated timeline due to specific facility configuration adjustments requiring further optimisation.
Comprehensive steps have since been activated to address the identified gap. Upgrades to network infrastructure, power stabilisation systems, and related technical components are already in progress to ensure seamless compliance ahead of the next accreditation cycle.
Management, while cautioning against attempts to politicize a matter that has already been responsibly addressed, assures prospective candidates, parents, and stakeholders that this development does not affect ongoing academic programmes, the institution’s accreditation status, or the broader educational mandate of the College.
Academic activities remain stable and uninterrupted, and every necessary measure is being taken to restore full CBT accreditation within the shortest possible time frame, if JAMB allow the College another opportunity to run the auto bot test.
Management wishes to expressly appreciate the education-friendly Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, for his consistent and strategic investment in the transformation and strengthening of the institution, particularly in its transition to the Akwa Ibom State University of Education. Through sustained budgetary support and targeted infrastructure funding, the Governor has demonstrated steadfast commitment to elevating standards, modernizing facilities, and aligning the institution with contemporary regulatory expectations. The corrective measures currently underway are being executed within this broader framework of reform and revitalisation.
The strong collaboration and mutual respect now enjoyed among Management, the three Unions (COEASU, SSUCOEN & NASU), students, and the host community have strengthened institutional stability and operational harmony. This peaceful and unified environment provides a solid foundation for continued progress, and Management remains firmly committed to safeguarding the growth of the College, achievements, and enduring legacy for future generations.
The institution remains focused, stable, and resolute in its mission to deliver quality Teacher education and academic excellence in line with national and international practice.
