Eight African countries, including Nigeria and Ghana, have progressed to the final round of the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup following the conclusion of Saturday’s third-round fixtures across the continent.

The decisive matches played at various venues confirmed the teams that remain in contention for qualification to the global showpiece.

According to Daily Post, Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team, the Falconets, defeated Senegal 2–1 in the second leg of their third-round tie on Saturday night.

The victory ensured Moses Aduku’s side progressed with a 3-1 aggregate win, keeping alive their hopes of securing a place at the tournament.

In another crucial encounter, Ghana’s U-20 side, the Black Princesses, booked their place in the final round after a 1-0 win over South Africa in Nelspruit.

The result handed the West Africans a 3-2 aggregate triumph, sealing their advancement to the decisive stage of the qualifiers.

Final Round Lineup Confirmed

With the latest results, Nigeria and Ghana have joined six other countries in the final round of the qualification series.

The remaining teams through to the last stage are:

  1. Uganda
  2. Malawi
  3. Cameroon
  4. Tanzania
  5. Cote d’Ivoire
  6. Benin Republic

The final round of fixtures will determine Africa’s representatives at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, with the remaining contenders expected to battle fiercely for qualification spots.
