Nigerian rapper Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, also known as Vector Tha Viper, has ignited debate by giving his ideas on intelligence, influence, and public perception of political people, including former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Vector was asked on a recent podcast whether he thought Peter Obi was overhyped or if Nigerians should be aware of his influence.

The rapper answered with measured caution, emphasising Obi’s intelligence and popular appeal.

“As a matter of fact, Nigerians better be careful of such a man, that is very highly intelligent,” Vector said.

“Not because I have or know anything wrong with him, or his stance — like he would say, go and verify. I might have personal opinions from my own experience, but I don’t know anything that I can say, you should beware of this person, no! But I know, someone who knows their books well and can speak convincingly… people like that, they are hot.”

Vector clarified that his comments were not meant to diminish Obi’s work or achievements.

“This is not in any way to stifle what he is doing,” he added, “but you know, there are many people we thought we were the ones, but they turned out to not be.”
