Pati, however, gave the convict an option of N50, 000 fine or 12 months imprisonment for house breaking and an option of N70, 000 fine for theft.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the “A” Division Police station on Jan. 4, by Mrs Martha John.

He said that the accused person trespassed into the complainant’s house and stole electricity wires and sockets worth N780, 000.

The prosecutor told the court that during police investigation, the accused person confessed to have committed the offence.

The offence, he said, contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria, 2017.
