Kebbi govt re-introduce soft house, car, motorcycle loans for teachers

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris on Tuesday pledged to re-introduce soft house, car, motorcycle loans for primary and secondary school teachers across the state.

The Governor made the pledge while inaugurating 12,779 set of furniture for primary and secondary schools in the state.

Speaking at the official inauguration ceremony in Birnin Kebbi, the governor said: “Government of Kebbi will continue to look into the plights of our teachers.

“In-Sha-Allah by this year, 2026, we will come-up with a package that teachers of primary post primary schools will benefit.

“We shall soon come up with a soft loan package for teachers, this will cover; car loan, motorcycle loan and house loan among others.

“This is with a view to giving our teachers a sense of belonging.”

The governor assured that the era of treating classroom teachers as a second class citizens was over.

Speaking on the furniture, Idris said the gesture was part of the state government’s obligation to ensuring that both the students and teachers have adequate furniture in their classrooms.

He pledged the unwavering commitment of his administration to continue to provide conducive atmosphere for both teaching and learning.

Apart from construction and renovation of different primary and post primary schools across Kebbi, the governor said the gesture was in line with urgent solution to ensure that classes and offices were were well equipped.

“I want to assure the good people of Kebbi that this is just the begining, we will continue to provide this kind of furniture for both teachers and students,” he stated.

The governor directed that the furniture be shared 50-50 between the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the Universal Basic Education.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Halima Bande, expressed happiness for what she described as a holistic commitment to education.

While thanking the governor for what he had been doing to education, the commissioner said they were not surprised with “what you have been doing to education because you were a teacher.

“We are happy for the projects you have been executing not only for education but across all sectors of the economy.”
