FUBK gets 2 new professors, 2 readers

The Governing Council of Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) has approved the promotion of two members of academic staff to the rank of Professor and two others to the rank of Reader.

This is contained in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi by the institution’s Public Relations Officer , Jamilu Magaji, on Thursday.

Magaji said the decision was taken at the Council’s 31st meeting chaired by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, retired Col. Abdulmumini Aminu, following recommendations by External Assessors and the Senior Staff Appointments and Promotions Committee (SSAPC).

According to him, those elevated to the rank of Professor are: Dr Junaidu Bello- Marshal (Corporate and ICT Laws),and Dr Aisha Nana- Adamu (Obstetrics and Gynaecology), while Dr Taslim Olatunde-Lawal (Paediatrics) and Dr Ola-Buraimo Abdulrazaq- Olatunji (Sedimentology) were promoted to the rank of Reader.

He said that Marshal, who currently serves as Kebbi State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, was recognised for his contributions in corporate and ICT law as well as his administrative engagements.

He added that Adamu, a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons, had made significant contributions to contemporary obstetrics and gynaecology at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, the university’s teaching hospital.

The  spokesman further disclosed that the Council also approved the promotion of 25 members of academic staff to the rank of Senior Lecturer and five senior members of  non-teaching staff to various positions, including Deputy Bursar, Deputy Director, Medical Laboratory Services and Principal Assistant Registrar.

He said the promotions take effect from Jan. 1, 2026, adding that the Council urged the beneficiaries to sustain their dedication and continue to render quality service to the university and humanity at large.
